On and Off the Trail - 4/21/17

  • Some good news for the New England ultra runners that want to run UTMB.  Another local race has been added to the list of qualifying races.  Yesterday the Vermont 100 mile and 100k announced that bot races are qualifying races for UTMB.  The 100 mile is worth 6 points and the 100k is worth 4 points.  Check out the UTMB Qualifying Process.  The Vermont 100 mile is closed out for 2017, but if you want any inspiration to sign up for the 2018 event, check out 100: Head/Heart/Feet
  • Garmin is turning into a straight up Smart Watch.  It will be interesting to see where the technology goes from here.  What WON'T we be connected to?
  • If you are on Strava and want to see how your New England trail running competition stacks up, you might want to head over to the Trail Animals Running Club Page.  With over 300 members, you are bound to find your rival on there.

Welcome to this blog...

Because I like taking on projects that I have no time for and never follow through with, I decided to start a blog focused on Mountain, Ultra and Trail running/runners in and from New England.  My random vision for this will be a place to highlight races, trails to train and race on, local runners, product, race reports and anything else that comes about.

I will try to list races that are coming up and also some random news that is happening in our sport, not just in New England, but everywhere.

If anyone wants me to highlight their races, add a link, if you want to submit a race report or story, or if you just have any suggestions, please shoot me an email at bob [at]
